Wordsworth House – Words and Views

Having stayed at the Travelodge in Cockermouth on Saturday night, we went to visit Wordsworth House which is in Cockermouth. It is maintained by the National Trust.

The house was well worth a visit.

However the garden was really lovely! The sun was also out, making it even better.

There was a textile exhibition in the garden.

Having had a good look around,  it was time to visit the cafe for some refreshments. However when we got there, all the tables were full, so we took our tea and cake outside and sat in the garden to enjoy the flowers and sunshine.

We stayed there quite some time as it was just soooo lovely.

Finally though we had to move on and walked back through Cockermouth to the Travelodge, where we had left the car.

Our walk along the river took us past Cockermouth Youth Hostel.

Once back at the car, we drove to Keswick and stopped there for a while.

Having had a look around the town, we walked down to the lake (Derwent Water) and spent some time enjoying the views.

Our walk back into town was through Hope Park.

We stopped for tea in the town and then had to make ourselves leave and drive home – time for the weekend to come to a close, although we would have both preferred to stay longer!
