Ordiefork, Guinness, and a Meeting with Prince Charles

Ordiefork, Guinness, and a Meeting with Prince Charles

After cycling around Dunkeld we continued on to Midmar, a small village not too far from Inverurie and Aberdeen. It is one of those villages that are incredibly difficult to spot on a map since it is essentially just a few houses. One of those houses is Ordiefork, the home of Clive (Sarah”s cousin), Sally and Guinness the dog.

A warm welcome from Guinness!
Ordiefork

Clive and Sally are keen walkers, so the following morning it was time to put the bikes away, put on the walking boots and set out for the Cairngorms.

We went for a walk on the edge of the Balmoral Estate. After all, if it is good enough for Prince Charles, who apparently introduced himself to Clive and Sally on this same walk over Christmas, then it is good enough for us! 🙂

Hurry up! I can”t hold this up for much longer

Walking for me has always been a bit of a challenge due to a problem with my feet. However walking in the hills on the soft peat ground was wonderful. I felt as if I could walk all day. We covered 8 miles, the furthest I have covered for many years.

Sarah, Clive and Sally

We didn’t meet Prince Charles this time, indeed we hardly met a soul all day! Fantastic. And the scenery was spectacular. So rather than me prattle on, just enjoy the photographs …

Oh, and in case I forget …say hello to Guinness …
