E2E Day 15 – Sanquhar to Lochranza

E2E Day 15. Newark Farm was the perfect place for cyclists to stay. The landlady was wonderfully helpful and the breakfast fantastic. In fact we had so much we packed lots of it for lunch!

We set off on the A76 (the old Glasgow Road) which is quite scenic. Unfortunately the surface was poor. And then of course there are the lorries thundering past. So whenever possible we took the opportunity of using side roads.

We finally arrived at Saltcoats to pick up some provisions before heading off to Ardrossan to catch the ferry.

We arrived on the Isle of Arran at 7pm and then it was a 15mile cycle ride round the island to Lochranza including a stonking hill at the end. It’s all worth it however for Arran is lovely and scenic. In the evenings you can walk down the middle of the street, no cars just red deer and sheep.

Tomorrow is a day of rest in this peaceful island.
