Culcheth and Lane Head

Culcheth and Lane Head

After watching football yesterday today it was back to our usual pastime of cycling. We went out with our cycling club, Stockport Community Cycling Club to Culcheth. Although to be more accurate we went to Lane Head.

We started from outside St Mark’s Church, Dunham Massey and I was riding ‘lantern rouge’ today.

We headed out over Warburton Bridge and then on through Rixton, Glazebrook and Culcheth.

We had made good progress by the time we reached Culcheth and in fact were nearing our lunch stop a little too early. A few minutes rest in a layby to give the pub time to open up before we arrived was called for!

Lunch was then taken at the Red Lion in Lane Head on the outskirts of Warrington.

If the morning was dry cycling then the afternoon was definitely wet. It was raining from the moment we left Warrington and continued as we headed back via Croft and Fearnhead.

So we decided to take the quickest route back.

We arrived back somewhat soggy having cycled nearly 28 miles. Once again it has been a weekend of sun on Saturday, rain on Sunday. However even the rain cannot take away the pleasure cycling always provides when you are out in the country lanes and staying fit and healthy.
