Marple Canals

Marple Canals

This Marple Canals cycle ride is a new route on the Stockport Community Cycling Club calendar. It is a ride that pretty much does what it says on the tin, it essentially follows the canals around Marple. I was leading the second group of riders today, with Des as my back-leader, and Sarah taking the photos. We met up at Rose Hill and set off down the Middlewood Way on a lovely sunny morning. We were following NCN Route 55. After…

The Cage – A Walk to Bowstones and Lyme Park

This walk over to The Cage in Lyme Park was the latest in the series of ‘training’ walks for the upcoming St Cuthbert’s Way, which Neil, Nicholl and Sarah will soon be undertaking. A little further on we turned down Lakes Road. This…

Then weaved our way through Hazel Grove towards Offerton. A short climb up Marple Road took us to Bongs Road. We followed this through to Dooley Lane. A…

Lyme Park 2015

Lyme Park 2015

Saturday was the SCCC Lyme Park 2015 ride. The weather forecast for the weekend was terrible – really strong winds an heavy rain! Andy and I were concious that next week is the Stockport 10 (a 10 mile hilly run) and due to me being ill we haven’t done much training for it. As the club ride started at Rose Hill Station (Marple), we decided to run the Marple Parkrun first. As we arrived at Brabyns Park it was dry…
