Reivers Route Day 6 – Cockermouth to Whitehaven

Reivers Route Day 6 – Cockermouth to Whitehaven

Reivers Route Day 6 was the final leg of our tour, and it was with a sense of ‘all good things must come to an end’ that we left the Manor House Hotel in Cockermouth. They had been extremely welcoming and nothing was too much for them, certainly a recommended place to stay. It was a cool and overcast morning as we crossed the River Derwent. And then made our way through Papcastle. We continued to cycle along the River Derwent…

Reivers Route Day 5 – Carlisle to Cockermouth

Reivers Route Day 5 – Carlisle to Cockermouth

It was another lovely sunny day when we left Cockermouth. We started by returning to Workington retracing our path from yesterday following the Sea-to-Sea (C2C) route along NCN 71. The…

Hadrian’s Cycleway Day 1 – The next adventure begins

Hadrian’s Cycleway Day 1 – The next adventure begins

Today was our Hadrian’s Cycleway Day 1, the start of our latest cycle tour adventure. We got the train up to Ravenglass, arriving at lunchtime. The official Hadrian’s Cycleway starting point is the Roman Bath house, so we made our way there passing the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway station. From here the route started along the coast up to Seascale. The paths were a little overgrown in places. As we dropped down into Seascale,  there were some great views of the beach….
