This Pennine Cycleway Itinerary outlines our annual summer group cycle tour with some of our Stockport Community Cycling Club friends. This year we will be cycling the Pennine Cycleway – all of it!

Last year we enjoyed the beautiful and relatively serene Coast and Castles South route. We expect this cycle tour to be just as breathtaking, if not more so – and this time, perhaps, in every sense of the word!

Our Pennine Cycleway Itinerary will be as follows:

Day 0 – Travel to Berwick-Upon-Tweed

Andy P, Sarah, and Andy S, Andy S and Ian travel to Berwick-Upon-Tweed.
Stay at Berwick-Upon-Tweed YHA, Berwick-Upon-Tweed.

Day 1 – Berwick-Upon-Tweed to Wooler

Neil and Tracey travel to Berwick-Upon-Tweed.
Cycle from Berwick-Upon-Tweed to Wooler (Distance = 28 miles, Pennine Cycleway total = 28 miles)
Stay at Martin’s Scythe B&B and Tilldale House B&B, Wooler.

Day 2 – Wooler to Bellingham

Cycle from Wooler to Bellingham (Distance = 48 miles, Pennine Cycleway total = 76 miles)
Stay at Bellingham YHA Bunkhouse, Bellingham.

Day 3 – Bellingham to Alston

Cycle from Bellingham to Alston (Distance = 44 miles, Pennine Cycleway total = 120 miles)
Stay at Alston YHA, Alston, Cumbria.

Day 4 – Alston to Orton

Cycle from Alston to Orton (Distance = 47 miles, Pennine Cycleway total = 167 miles)
Stay at The George Hotel, Orton.

Day 5 – Orton to Settle

Cycle from Orton to Settle  (Distance = 44 miles, Pennine Cycleway total = 211 miles)
Stay at Whitefriars Country Guesthouse, Settle.

Day 6 – Settle to Hebden Bridge

Cycle from Settle to Hebden Bridge (Distance = 39 miles, Pennine Cycleway total = 250 miles)
Stay at Hebden Bridge Hostel, Hebden Bridge.
Last night we are all together, so we will enjoy our usual celebratory meal in Hebden Bridge.

Day 7 – Hebden Bridge to Chisworth

Cycle from Hebden Bridge to Chisworth  (Distance = 41 miles, Pennine Cycleway total = 291 miles)
Tracey and Ian will finish here and journey home.
Stay at Shaw Hostel (Andy S’s home!), Marple, Stockport.

Day 8 – Chisworth to Hartington

Andy P, Sarah, Andy S, Des, Neil and Andy S continue Pennine Cycleway.
Cycle from Chisworth to Hartington  (Distance = 33 miles, Pennine Cycleway total = 323 miles)
Stay at Hartington Hall YHA, Hartington.

Day 9 – Hartington to Etwall

Cycle from Hartington to Etwall and complete the Pennine Cycleway.
Cycle on to Derby and complete Route 68  (Distance = 30 miles, Pennine Cycleway total = 353 miles)
Journey home.
