Pennine Cycleway Day 5 – Orton to Settle

Pennine Cycleway Day 5 – Orton to Settle

Pennine Cycleway – Day 5 took us from Orton to Settle.  It was a hard days riding on a very hot day!

Before we set off from Orton, we were waiting whilst Ian made some adjustments to the seat on his bike. Most of us waited across the road in the shade as it felt too hot in the sun – it was only just after 9am!

We stopped at Sedbergh for a coffee break at Howgills Bakery – they had an amazing chocolate brownie, which was gluten free and covered in dark chocolate!

The route went to Ingleton, for a very late lunch. The route took us over one of the hardest hills we had ever been over!

The decent was good though.

We ate at the Inglesport Cafe in Ingleton – good food and great service!

We still had 13 miles to get to Settle,  which still involved plenty of climbing.

In Settle we ate at a really great Italian.

The town is certainly getting ready for the Tour De France.

We had cycled 43.82 miles and climbed 4242 feet.

    1. I have done the Way of the Roses a couple of times, great ride! The climb out of Settle is really tough 😉
