Keswick – A Day Out for Andy’s Birthday

Keswick – A Day Out for Andy’s Birthday

Having enjoyed a few days in Caernarfon for Sarah’s birthday last month which we both thoroughly enjoyed, we now both took a day off work and spent the day at Keswick for Andy’s birthday. The weatherman had predicted heavy rain but this didn’t deter us and we are really glad it didn’t for us the photos below show we had a fabulous day

We have visited Keswick recently (herehere and here) however it is always a place that we enjoy returning to since it never ceases to provide special memories for us on so many levels – from outdoor activities wise, environmentally, interest through to spiritual.

Upon arrival in Keswick we headed for the the Derwent Head car park at the lakeside.

Since it was raining we started with the idea that we would just do a short walk to Friars Crag.

Along the route is a memorial to one of Keswick’s favourite sons, John Ruskin.

Thankfully it wasn’t raining so we decided to keep walking and followed the path around Derwent Bay.

The low cloud and mist provided some fantastic pictures.

We walked as far as Calfclose Bay.

By now the rain had ceased and the return journey saw the mist rising and with it new views opened up.

There was however still just enough mist to provide some eerie shots!

Upon arriving back at Derwent Bay we visited the Lakeside Tea Gardens.

After refreshments we walked in to the town centre with the idea of buying my birthday present. We didn’t achieve this since it was a bit too late in the afternoon to do the shops justice. We might just have to arrange a return visit!

For our evening meal we visited the The Royal Bengal Restaurant. We chose the buffet and overall were pleasantly surprised with the food. The location itself however could do with renovating, and the drink choices were somewhat limited.

Time was getting on so we headed back via Hope Park.

We paid one last visit to Derwentwater.

Sadly that was it. Time to head back to Stockport. We had enjoyed another fantastic day at Keswick and hopefully it won’t be too long before we return.
