JOGLE Day 8 – Rest Day in Grasmere

JOGLE Day 8 – Rest Day in Grasmere

Saturday was the JOGLE Day 8, a rest day in Grasmere. The group have split up briefly. Tracey spent the day with her family (Dan and Victoria) who arrived last night and are staying until tomorrow.  Nic and Neil had decided to stay in a posh hotel with a spa bath! The rest of us were staying in the luxury of Grasmere Youth Hostel and their special bunk beds!

The two Andys and I decided to go for a little walk to see Grasmere lake. It was a little misty and damp as we set off but not enough that we needed waterproof coats. It was very lovely.

We stopped off for some interesting tea and cake at the Faeryland Cafe. They had a huge range of different tea’s – Andy S tried Faery Grey, Andy P tried a mixture with gunpowder and I tried Faery Green tea.

After a long stop at the cafe, we continued back towards Grasmere,  looked around the garden centre and did a bit of shopping.  Then we walked through the Church yard and saw Wordsworth’s grave.

Also visiting the Wordsworth Daffodil garden which was next door.

By now I was getting tired and it was time to have lunch. We stopped at Greens Cafe and have some fantastic soup.

As we are in the Lakes we had to have some Lakeland Ice Cream – it would have been rude not to!

We then headed back to the Youth Hostel to hang up the laundry. I had to have a nap then!

It has been a lovely day off in a wonderful place. The team will be back on the road again in the morning. I am sure the others enjoyed their days off too.
