E2E Day 16 – Day off in Lochranza (Isle of Arran)

E2E Day 16. Last night we had a walk to the local hotel for a drink and saw a wonderful sunset.

The Isle of Arran looks like such an amazing place! The fact that it is warm & sunny probably helps too! Lochranza is at the top of the island and the village is spread around the bay.

As it was a day off today, we decided to keep off our bikes and to go for a bit of a walk. We went part way up the hill on the opposite side of the bay from the Youth Hostel, walked round to a place called Fairy Dell.

The sea was so clear and blue!

We then walked back along the coast to Lochranza.

There was a sandwich shop near the ferry terminal where we bought lunch, sitting outside to eat. We had a look around the remains of Lochranza castle.

The rest of the afternoon was spent leisurely around the hostel, resting and enjoying the weather.

This evening there are 5 others joining us for the trip as far as Inverness, which will be lovely. They are all members of SCCC (Stockport Community Cycling Club). We are being joined by Andy, Des, Neil, Sandra and Debbie – it will be great to see them!
