Celtic Trail Day 6 – Treforest to Chepstow

Celtic Trail Day 6 – Treforest to Chepstow

Friday was our Celtic Trail Day 6 and the final day of our Celtic Trail tour. As we were about to leave, Andy Shaw found he had a puncture and I had a broken nail, so a few repairs were required before we could depart!

The hill down from the B&B was soooooo steep that I decided to walk down.

We picked up the Taff Trail for a while (which I had cycled on for the very first cycle tour that I ever went on – from Cardiff to Llandudno).

There were a couple of obstacles to negotiate.

We went through Caerphilly, passing the Castle.

We stopped at Tredegar House (a National Trust property) for lunch.

We then headed towards Newport and the Transporter Bridge.

We used the Transporter Bridge to cross the estuary. There is a gondola which carries you across the water.

Soon we passed the first sign for Chepstow.

We dropped down into Chepstow.

We checked in at our B&B and after a shower and change we headed out for a celebration on the completion of the Celtic Trail.

We stopped at the local Wetherspoons for a quick drink, then made our way to Mythos Greek Restaurant, where we had a meze meal.

After we had eaten we called into a local pub to watch the Euro 2016 match between Wales and Belgium. Being in a Welsh pub, the atmosphere was amazing and the noise each time Wales scored was deafening!

After the match had finished, we headed off to the river to have a look before heading off to bed.

Today we had cycled 47 miles and climbed 1800 feet.
